Privacy policy

FX Forge collects little personal information and this policy is short so that you will actually read it. It covers the free RateCheck rate checker, the terminal and its subscription, and the weekly commentary email. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

RateCheck — no account needed

The currencies, amounts and rates you enter are carried in the address of the page you are looking at, not stored by us. If you share that link, our preview-image service reads the values from the link to draw the preview and does not keep them.

Information we collect from account holders

When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the name and email Google provides. Passwords are stored only as a hash by our sign-in provider. While you use the terminal we store your watchlists, rate alerts, workspace settings and subscription status against your account. If you turn on alerts for a device, we also store the push subscription your browser creates for that device, so an alert can reach it while FX Forge is closed; turning alerts off for the device removes it.

If you start a subscription trial, Stripe collects your card details directly. We receive a Stripe customer reference and the status of your subscription; we never see or store your card number.

If you subscribe to the weekly commentary, we store your email address with our email provider so we can send it. Every email carries an unsubscribe link.

Information every visitor sends

Like all websites we receive standard request data — IP address, browser type, referring page and the pages you load. We use it to run the service, apply rate limits (keyed to your account or, if you are not signed in, your IP address for a few minutes), and to diagnose errors. Our error-monitoring service records the details of a failed request, which can include your IP address and browser type.

We measure traffic with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or track you across sites. We also count page views ourselves: each view records the page and a one-way code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day, so it cannot identify you or link your visits across days; no IP address, cookie or account is stored with it. We do not use advertising or behavioural tracking of any kind.

Cookies and browser storage

We set one strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in. The terminal also keeps some preferences (your watchlist, alerts and commentary panel) in your browser’s local storage; that data stays on your device unless you are signed in and choose to sync it.

Advertising

RateCheck currently shows no advertising. If we introduce it, it will be contextual — chosen from the currency pair on the page, not from a profile of you — and we will name the provider here before it starts.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the providers that run the service, each under its own privacy terms: Vercel (hosting and analytics), Supabase (database and sign-in), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Upstash (rate limiting), Sentry (error monitoring) and Google (if you sign in with Google). These providers store data on servers outside Australia, mainly in the United States and Europe. Market data comes from public sources and contains no personal information. We will disclose personal information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted within 30 days of a deletion request. Billing records are kept for as long as Australian tax law requires. Request logs and error reports are kept for a short, fixed period by the providers named above and then discarded.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its data. If you are in the EEA, the UK, California or another place with additional data-protection rights, those rights apply too. Email connect@fxforge.co and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Children

The service is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date above and, for account holders, email you before the change takes effect.
